Trompe
l’Oeil
– Trompe l’Oeil literally means “fools the eye”. The
technique uses painted light and shadow to create the
illusion of reality. Using this technique we can create
exotic custom finishes for a fraction of the cost of the
real thing. We can match virtually any color and create
just about any kind of finish or patina including
distressed European plasters, woodgrain, stone, marble,
and metallics. Some examples:

3D
Architectural Details
– Moulding, wall panels, wainscoting, grills, ironwork,
medallions for hanging and recessed lighting, escutcheon
plates for door knobs, hinge straps for doors.

Ornamental Elements
– Grisaille (several values of a single color used to
model a form) and Polychrome (several colors used to
create more complex forms)
·
Embossments and Debossments
– Ornamentation can be taken to a new level by giving it
texture and relief. A nice touch for doorways, archways
and other architectural features.

Plaster
& Wood Ornaments
– For those looking for the real thing (or when the real
thing is the only option), a wide variety of true 3D
architectural and ornamental elements can be installed
in place of Trompe l’Oeil or in combination with Trompe
l’Oeil. Elements such as capitals, plynths, brackets,
moulding, carvings, door frames, ceiling medallions,
rosettes, casings, corbels and keystones are available.

Exotic
Materials & Tile
– Using advanced faux painting techniques, we can
recreate a wide variety of exotic or rare materials that
most cannot differentiate from the real thing. Some
examples:

Marble
– Architectural elements such as columns and wall panels
can be made to look like real White Veined Carrara, Sea
Green, Portor, or Imperador marbles.
·
Semiprecious Stone
– Red Jasper, Algerian Onyx, Pietre Dure.
·
Limestone and Sandstone
– Walls can be finished using faux stone blocks and can
be done in any style imaginable.

Wood
– Panels, furniture & artwork backboards can be finished
to look like exotic hardwoods such as Cuban Feather
Mahogany, Bird’s Eye Maple, Amboina or Thuja Burl.
Marquetry (ornamental designs formed by fitting together
small pieces of wood) can be simulated on any surface
including hardwood floors.

Metal
Patinas & Gilding
– A ceiling can be made to look like it is finished with
copper or rusted iron panels. Real architectural
details such as moulding can be finished to look like
bronze or gold.

Tile
– Tile for kitchen backsplashes, baths, powder rooms or
floors can be custom designed to simulate virtually any
stone and include embossments, carving and
ornamentation.
